History of the Society

The History of the Society Project (HSP) seeks to preserve and provide access to information concerning the history and development of the American Society for Legal History. The resources housed at the site include historical lists of officers, board and committee members, as well as documents generated by the ASLH, and personal histories (accessible via videos, podcasts, and transcripts of same) of interviews of members of the Society. The physical documents generated by the ASLH are preserved at the Georgetown University Law Center.

For questions concerning the History of the Society project and, VERY IMPORTANTLY, to volunteer documents that HSP does not have but needs in order to be more nearly complete, please email Charles Zelden at zelden@nova.edu, co-chair, and Craig Joyce at cjoyce@uh.edu, founding chair of HSP.

For assistance during the construction of this project, the co-chairs are deeply grateful to the University of Houston Law Center’s and ASLH Fellow Robert C. Palmer, Cullen Professor of History and Law (whose Anglo-American Legal History Project hosted this webpage during its formative period), and to the following UHLC graduates: Michele Collins, 2015 and Zachary Schneider, 2013.
